I must say that the ending felt a bit abrupt, considering the pace the book had up to that point, but it doesn’t influence much the vibe it gives the reader.

Fereshteh is such a beautiful name and if you ask me I’d have preferred her to go with her real name instead of Angel. I still loved it though and I do think that it gets a lot right about fandom and human relationships! Angel is similarly obsessed with “The Ark”, a three-member boy band from England who are just starting to become internationally recognized in this novel.

There were so many topics and situations that spoke to me and no matter if it was Jimmy’s POV as a musician, Angel’s POV as part of the fandom, the diversity and reps or the relationships between all of those lovely characters, I could relate to all of them! Oseman does such a wonderful job of depicting the truth of being a teenager in a fast-paced, hyper-connected world like we have today. The book takes place over a week, and it definitely reads as fast paced- no spoilers but during the ending I literally couldn't stop reading because I was that anxious about what was happening.

His character arc in this book focuses primarily on his anxiety, and his struggle to handle his own mental health in a world where his privacy has increasingly been invaded. This book hit a bit too close to me , like if I say it's probably going to be one of my favourite books it's going to be a bit of understatement .Online communication has genuinely allowed me, a somewhat socially awkward person, to develop meaningful and lasting relationships with so many people and I am so incredibly grateful for that. I would still recommend this with my entire heart, and I feel like if you have been a part of “boy band culture” you will relate even more than I did. Your progress is valuable and you should be proud of every little step you’re making in the right direction. Alice is the author of several YA contemporary novels about teenage disasters: SOLITAIRE (published when she was 19), RADIO SILENCE, I WAS BORN FOR THIS, and LOVELESS (a New York Times bestseller). None of these characters end the book feeling totally okay, but they ended this book just a little better, and there’s something rather valuable.

And when Angel and Jimmy are unexpectedly thrust together, they will discover just how strange and surprising facing up to reality can be. I even drafted a letter to my favorite member, Lance, but I guess even 10-year-old me was wise enough not to send it.Angel is a 18-years-old hijabi and she lives for The Ark, she would die for the members of this boy band. Just by choosing to work towards bettering yourself, you have already come so far and you know what? The first part of this book is generally rollick-good fun as the characters gear up for an Ark concert; new friendships are established and we get to know the heart of the main characters. The lyrics are written in five different languages, taken from various historical documents and works of poetry; [1] the title itself is the English translation of a quote attributed to Joan of Arc during her trial.

i'm filipino-american, i'm pan, and i love reading and reviewing books a totally unreasonable amount. Rowan’s girlfriend, Bliss, has got to be my favorite character - she is the hilarious icon I needed in my life, and her arc around her relationship with Rowan is fantastic. Angel’s internet friend, Juliet, took a while to grow on me, but is human as can be - and for that reason I liked her. Synopsis: For Angel Rahimi, life is only about one thing: The Ark – a pop-rock trio of teenage boys who are currently taking the world by storm. When you do it right you get a character that feels real to the reader, that translates to the world in a good, organic way.
