This takes you through the nitty gritty bits of keeping one running in the 1960s when en suite rooms were yet an emerging trend. There are so many beautifully drawn characters within this story I loved them all, Ambrosine is such a sweet lady and interesting as you learn more about her past. There were loads and loads and loads of characters, many of whom shared the same initial (Andrew, Alexandra, Amanda, Antoine and Ambrosine, all in the first chapter, then Laura, Letty, Lexi, Lizzie and Louise, and then Sally, Sam, Simon, Susan and Suzanne – really, Susan *and* Suzanne?

Catherine Rose Gordon-Cumming was born 27 September 1952 in England, UK, the daughter of Shirley Barbara Laub and Michael Willoughby Gordon-Cumming. As someone whose son is a chef, I can tell you that Fforde does an excellent job of shining a light on quite how much work goes into the world of hospitality. End her relationship with Ryan, especially as through the window of the café, she spies a waiter who looks much more like her type of man. Having already followed the stories of the other two in the previous books in this loose series, I was delighted to learn more about Meg.I believe falling in love is the best thing in the world, and I want all my characters to experience it, and my readers to share their stories. Many thanks to NetGalley and to Random House UK, Cornerstone, Century for letting me see an advance reader's copy of One Enchanted Evening. id":7540098269339,"title":"A Wedding in Provence - Paperback (2022)","handle":"a-wedding-in-provence-paperback-2022","description":"A Wedding in Provence is the second in a series of three about three girls who met on a cookery course in London. One walk-on who didn't say anything was randomly named Ted, and then we had Edward/Teddy mentioned later on who was a completely different but far more important person. She hotfoots it there, happy to help out, even when Justin, the son of the owner, turns up and is rather rude to her, especially about women in the kitchen (he’s a chef too).

You may recognise some familiar faces if you have read the earlier books, but this is a stand-alone story based around the delightful Nightingale Woods country house hotel. v=1668085692","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":null,"id":27351114023067,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0.

but I was determined to read a few more and Courtney from Ed Pr gave me the perfect opportunity when she asked me to be on the blog tour for Katie’s newest book; One Enchanted Evening.I have read a couple of Katie Fforde books before and really enjoyed them and this one didn’t disappoint either. The chef,Geoff, has sacked most of the staff and had arranged for agency staff which costs more, something the hotel really can’t afford, but the agency let them down, so Geoff quit. She is delighted to have been chosen as Chair of the Romantic Novelists' Association and says, "Catherine Jones was a wonderful chair and she's a very tough act to follow. She believes falling in love is the best thing in the world, and she wants all her characters to experience it, and her readers to share their stories. But I had a niggling feeling that I’d missed out on some of the characters’ histories and back stories… and then I discovered that there were at least two other books written previously about the same group of friends.

Having been born in the 60’s a lot of things reminded me of my young days, no bathroom’s indoors, I remember staying in hotels when on holiday as we were growing up and none of them had en suite facilities. Not good - I used to enjoy some Katie Fforde crafted escapism as a guilty pleasure, and would devour her books on beaches. v=1677516281","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":null,"id":27763094683803,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0.

I loved watching Meg, together with help of her mum, the staff (who are just as invested) and her friends, breathe new life into the hotel. You can tell that there’s a lot more than first impressions and there were a couple of twists and turns along the way of this book, a few that I managed to guess but others that I didn’t have a clue on which just added that extra layer. Trouble is she is a woman in very much a man’s world and when the son of the owner Justin appears, he shakes Meg’s confidence to be able to produce anything edible. Even though I really liked Meg, I think Ambrosine has to be my favourite character, I could just sit down with a cup of tea and listen to her for hours without complaint or getting bored of her tales.
