About this deal

The reason they have special/specific plugs is that this circuit only has a 5amp fuse so you would never want to plug in most normal appliances. The Electrical Appliances (Colour Code) Regulations 1969 (as amended in 1970 and 1977) will be revoked with effect from 1 February 1995.

IEC C14 shrouded 3 pin IEC plug, 250Vac / 10amp Non Rewireable Straight Male Connector ( Clarke cable part number C21 ) There are two common types of terminals inside plugs. Post terminals, where the wire is wrapped around a central post, and pillar terminals, where the wire enters from the side of the terminal. These changes will not affect the day to day operation of manufacturers or suppliers who will not need to seek re-approval of devices that are currently approved by ASTA Certification Services or British Standards Institute (BSI) under the provisions of the 1987 Regulations. Both ASTA Certification Services and BSI will continue to be recognised as approval bodies for the purposes of the new Regulations. Part ii - Fitted plug provisionsCustom plugs made of harder materials, or generic plugs that are too big or small, can rub where they sit in the ear and make it tender and painful. If worn inappropriately they can even break the skin. Most standard ear plugs (not ear defenders for work such as road drilling, or very loud activities) are made of one of three materials: wax, silicone or foam, each with different pros and cons. Prices vary most in this category. They can be soft and mouldable or a more traditional ear bud. They tend to be reusable and lighter (although there are harder ones too). Any ceiling rose connect (that is to say a connector designed to hold up overhead electric light fittings).

The "fitted plug" provisions will not apply to those appliances that are listed at the appendix. Part iii - Information requirements This OC informs inspectors of the implementation of the above 'consumer product safety' regulations and gives a brief summary of the Regulations and their commencement dates. Introduction All UK plugs have fuses fitted. These are to protect the flex rather than the appliance. Without a fuse, the only protection will be at the consumer unit and will typically be a 30A fuse or 32A circuit breaker. Part III provides for the information that must accompany all standard plugs and conversion plugs. Such devices must be legibly marked or bear a label that signifies that the device has been approved and the identity of the body that carried out the approval. Where it is necessary for the safe operation of any standard plug or conversion plug that the user should be aware of any particular characteristics, the necessary information must be given by markings on the plug or where this is not practicable, in a notice accompanying the plug. Any such instructions must be given in English. Implementation dates
