About this deal

Kiwi Ears is a somewhat new brand in the IEM scene with only having 3 releases including the topic of our review today, that being the Kiwi Ears Cadenza.

Having recently delved back into the world of entry-level IEMs, a YouTube review alerted me to the Cadenza's existence. The Simgot EW200 is definitely better in the technicalities than the Cadenza and is on par in terms of timbre to the Cadenza when compared. Amy Winehouse, Sinatra and Bruce Dickinson didn't have to fight against any other sounds to stand out. The proximal ends of each cable have a ‘L’ and ‘R’ letting to delineate the left and right sides respectively. He is a seasoned voice in the audio community, with a notable presence on Head-Fi and has previously wrote for Audioreviews. The Dolce edges out the Cadenza in the technicalities, but is less smoother and leans to a drier, brighter side of the spectrum. Everything sounds clean and presentative, the treble is calming and smooth, and there are no overtly irritating undertones.

The design is akin to those of much more pricier IEMs with a resin shell which is nice to look at, but is still less flashy due to the darker overall look. And, the included 4-core twisted cable may be a bit generic, but it handles well (just try not to get it tangled above the Y-splitter).The creator of Kiwi Ears has had a hand in some of the most highly rated ChiFi IEMs in the market today, though I’m not at liberty to say more than that I think. I don't know if my pair is faulty but low mids are very recessed in some point, lows aren't like the audio signature.

Thus, the thinner, lighter, and more stiff the membranes are, the faster responses the diaphragm can achieve, resulting in higher audio resolution and clarity across the frequency range. I thought they were a little laid back but play fairly with the overall reaction; the mid range is clear and focal with the response. They have a linear bass, with less quantity but much better speed and texturing, with no mid-bass bleed. It was almost to the point that I thought that if I added more pressure that I would break one of the pins.

The Cadenza has a middle-of-the-road treble response that splits the difference between smooth and energetic. The Heart Mirror are a league or two ahead in technicalities, with superior instrument separation, micro-details, clarity, and imaging. The Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lite was built on the same foundation as the original Orchestra, yet redesigned to be more efficient, both in performance and cost. Probably if you want more (slightly) more soundstage expansion go with the C3, and if you want a slightly smoother treble go with the Cadenza. Cons: they are kinda shouty and splashy, you can hear the excess of energy where upper mids connect to lower treble. It just gets there, meaning there is just enough complexity and energy of output to make the high-end features enjoyable.
