About this deal

If you want a speaker to move throughout your house and on the go while still maximizing sound quality, the Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II is ideal. All in all, if you’re looking for a great party speaker with the ability to control your smart home, the Stanmore II Voice could be your new best friend.

Aux jack, but didn’t like the sound — which came across as strained — as much as we did listening over Bluetooth. The device struggles in noisy environments because of the lack of high-end extension and high mids, but effective low midrange keeps voices from getting completely lost. You could even attach a guitar amp modeller pedal and use the Stanmore II as a low volume guitar practice amp. This isn’t a big concern, and provided you’re in the same room with the speaker, we doubt you’ll have to repeatedly yell to get Alexa to pay attention. While the Stanmore II Bluetooth looks and sounds good, it leaves us dreaming of its pricier sibling, the Woburn II Bluetooth.Coupled with the ability to play lossless HiFi audio tracks, audiophiles should check out the dynamic sound experience the Sony SRS-RA3000 has to offer. Despite being a Bluetooth speaker, the Marshall Stanmore II actually needs to be plugged-in to function. Alexa may be able to do much of the everyday adjustments for you, but when you want more bass, you can also twist a big knob on the top.

Generally speaking, any speaker equipped with a physical line input has the potential to connect to a smart home device. You’ll have to accept this, as to get the most from the Stanmore II Voice, it has to be able to hear you, so hiding it away is not really an option. Clattering synths and tactile percussion come through with sharpness and clarity - although, at times the higher frequencies can be slightly harsh, which can cause ear fatigue after a while. I wished they had a way to optimize the loading time especially when a mobile device has been paired.Perfect if you’re having people over and they don’t feel like going through the whole process of downloading an app and connecting over wifi. Dynamic Loudness is a feature built-in that “adjusts the tonal balance of the sound to ensure your music sounds brilliant at every volume” and you can definitely hear that in action as you dial the sound all the way up because you don’t lose out at all on detail. We really like this app for its ease of managing a multi-speaker system, but the lack of Bluetooth capabilities still felt limiting. With a commanding voice assistant inside, it’s the definition of large-and-in-charge, dominating the room that Alexa controls.
