Description

This book is a sequel of sorts to The Bare Reality, the original book in the series where 100 women had their breasts photographed and shared what it meant to them to be a woman. If you are a man, all of it will make you realise that no matter how you feel about your body, and what it is to be a man, that you are not alone. So, if you have a teen with a penis, this book can be a helpful resource to let them know that bodies come in all shapes and sizes, and that having a porn star-sized penis is not the norm. No matter if you’re talking to your male buddy, your wife, or a mashed up dead tree, it’s the first step in being a “transformational” man. Lange habe ich geglaubt, ein solches Buch gäbe es aktuell noch nicht und war sehr erleichtert, als ich dann dieses hier gefunden habe.

It occurred to me as I read just how rare it is for non-erect penises to be subjected to the gaze of thousands of women and men. Just as Bare Reality: 100 women, their breasts, their stories presented the un-airbrushed truth about breasts for women, Manhood: The Bare Reality shows us the spectrum of ‘normal’, revealing men’s penises and bodies in all their diversity and glory, dispelling body image anxiety and myths. A big thank you to the author and publisher of this book for sending me a copy of this book to review. I love this book, I love the subject matter and the fact that it is being brought to public attention. There are plenty of online resources about vulvas, thanks to the women’s empowerment movement, but there doesn’t seem to be a similar movement when it comes to penises. The million copy bestseller, A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, is an immensely powerful and heartbreaking novel of brotherly love and. While there were a few quotes that reinforces “traditional manhood” concepts, they were shared by men who had their penises photographed a few minutes earlier and were sharing some of their deepest and darkest moments in their lives. By turning my lens on physical taboos, I catalyse a ground-breaking conversation into social taboos and offer a deeply personal perspective on our most private, painful and pleasurable stories.

Get it for the photos, but read it for the funny, the shocking, and the vulnerable moments we might otherwise never see. If you are a woman, some of it will make you question your beliefs and perceptions about the inner world of men, and of how certain ideologies portray us. Just as Bare Reality: 100 women, their breasts, their stories presented the un-airbrushed truth about breasts for women, Manhood: The Bare Reality shows us the spectrum of `normal', revealing men's penises and bodies in all their diversity and glory, dispelling body image anxiety and myths. I think this is why men sometimes have a higher incidence of some of the serious illnesses because we don’t like to complain about being ill.

It’s because they’re seeing these exaggerated sizes in porn, where everything is larger than life to create excitement and arousal. The long-awaited second instalment in Samantha Shannon's Sunday Times and New York Times-bestselling series Tunuva Melim is a sister of the Priory. What makes the Laura Dodsworth books different, is that there is a personal story that goes with each photograph, where they share their story or feelings about their penis. As I was typing this, I really had to wonder – were the interviews taped while they were still naked or did they get dressed first? As I read the book, I saw many interesting things, and I’m not even referring to the multitude of penises (there is also a strong narrative of what word to use when referring to the penis as throughout the book; I settled for the anatomical term in this piece).
