Both a CD and LP charting their contributions to the craze come courtesy of Chrysalis recordings here. I still have the CD version that came out in the late 90s with jewel case and sleeve, this is the original soundtrack CD release. CD 3 / LP 3 The Original 1981 Album These recordings were mixed for the original audio release of the soundtrack.

Alas I was only 12 in 1979 and no matter how much begging and pleading I tried, I was never allowed to actually see The Specials et al at their very best. Outside of rare screenings of well-preserved prints, most fans have seen it only via VHS bootlegs and hideous blurry YouTube uploads with muffled sound. For those keeping score, this will mark the first time anything Madness-related is available on Blu-ray Disc. The next big trend to emerge a little later in the decade revolved around blues guitarists, virtually all of them originally hailing from the rural South, their approach closely related to field hollers and work songs.Lonnie Johnson, Blind Willie McTell, Blind Blake, and Skip James mapped out the guitar-dominated long-term future of the idiom with every 78 they released. The legendary 1981 concert film Dance Craze is set for release as a DVD/Blu-ray set on March 27, 2023.

in all its hyperactive glory – including The Specials, Madness, The Selecter, The Beat, Bad Manners and The Bodysnatchers. Well we all remember it as a lot of fun with a serious message behind it but I have to admit that I was unaware of 'Dance Craze' - a concert film featuring performances from all the greatest 2Tone acts including The Specials, Madness, The Selecter, The Beat and. Her glamorous approach to the music was solidly based in the vaudeville tradition, the accompaniment dominated by jazzy horns and flowery piano. At the height of the 2-tone ska movement came Dance Craze, a comprehensive music video film charting the best of the 1970s and 80s ska craze in Britain - a movement dominated by such greats as The Specials, Madness, The Selecter and Bad Manners.Brilliant versions of all the tracks on it, a personal highlight being the best ever version of Nite Klub by the Specials. Para mí, que descubrí lo que ahora es el CD3 en cassette allá por el año '86, una joya imprescindible, hasta estoy barajando comprar un reproductor Blu-ray y el documental remasterizado. The deluxe soundtrack is coming from Chrysalis/2 Tone, whose recent reissues have seen widespread American release, so that should be no problem. All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. While we wait for March to get here, take a look at my personal reflections on the classic soundtrack album, Dance Craze and My Higher Education.

There are differences to the ‘film’ mixes and in the cases of The Selecter and Bad Manners, the recordings are from different concerts. The set also includes a copy of the original poster featuring photos of all the groups, and the film poster. Dance Craze only ever made it to VHS, so a new 4K restoration by the BFI ( from original film materials) sees it newly available as a Blu-ray+DVD package.

Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. While mammoth memory-laners like 'Night Boat To Cairo' do feature here, there are also many lesser-spotted gems, such as Bad Manners' organ-scraping 'Inner London Violence' and 'Ranking Full Stop', a quadruple-time highlight from The English Beat. The film, shot in 1980, comprised performance footage of Madness, The Specials, The Selecter, The Bodysnatchers, the Beat and Bad Manners on tour throughout the United Kingdom.

The film was directed by Joe Massot, [1] who originally wanted to do a film only about the band Madness, whom he met during their first US tour. I bought the original vynal record when it was first released, and went to the cinema to watch the film. Performers popular enough to afford them acquired flashy steel-bodied National guitars that resonated louder than standard models.

One good thing was a hard slip case as opposed to a light card sleeve to house the lps as some record labels do. This new expanded Deluxe Edition 3 disc box set features the previously unreleased 27 track film soundtrack, along with the original 14 track vinyl album. The first and second CDs are the full soundtrack to the film, which have been remastered, and the third CD is the original album release. As if that weren’t exciting enough (and it damned well is), there will be an accompanying Deluxe Edition of the Dance Craze soundtrack album as box sets of 3 LPs or 3 CDs, out on March 23, 2023. These giants made their nimble fretwork heard over the cacophonous din inside the rowdy juke joints where they plied their trade by fretting their instruments with a slide or bottleneck.
